Dear Cary & Apex Area Schools,
With the closing of school, I know many of you are concerned about your low-income children and their access to food during this emergency closure. Through the Summer Food Service Program, we are able to open emergency meal sites in our area. These will be curbside services, so families can drive through and pick up meals at no charge! We are happy to announce that the meals are prepared by Boston Market and served by local volunteers!
The following locations will provide meals:
– First United Methodist Cary (117 South Academy Street, Cary NC) – Lunches 12:15-1:15 pm Monday to Friday.
– Chatham Forest Apartments (880 Glendale, Cary NC) – Dinners 6:30-7:30 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays
– Apex First Baptist Church (419 South Salem Street, Apex NC) – Dinners 6:30-7:30 pm Mondays and Wednesdays
– Arbors of Cary (200 Wrenn Drive, Cary NC) – Dinners 6:00-7:00 pm Mondays to Thursdays.
Additionally, Briarcliff Elementary will be providing school meals Mondays to Fridays from 12:00-1:00 pm.
If you know of a family that lacks transportation, we are diligently working with volunteers and the police/fire departments to arrange delivery. If you know a family that would benefit from this service, please email kirksummerfoods@gmail.com. We cannot guarantee delivery, but we will do our best!
Thank you for your support of the children!
Stephanie Workman, Chair of the Western Regional Food Security Taskforce
