Voting Fact Sheets
  • Call Wake Co. Board of Elections at 919-404-4040 and they will MAIL or Email you a voter registration form! You simply mail the form back!
  • Go to the Wake Bd. Of Elections Office and complete the registration form at the office.
  • Download and print a copy of the voter registration form posted on the Wake Board of Elections website.
  • You can register to vote/update your registration ONLINE if you have a NC driver’s license.
  • You can register to vote and VOTE at the same time during Early Voting: October 15, 2020 8am through October 31, 2020 3pm. See Early Voting Sites HERE.
  • You CANNOT register and vote on Election Day. To vote on Election Day you must be a registered voter by October 8th.
VOTE EARLY October 15 to October 31 at 3:00pm
Election Day is November 3, 2020.
  • Voters can also vote early or by absentee ballot.
  • View a list of 2020 Candidates for Elected Office.
  • You do not need an ID to vote in the 2020 election. If you are not sure you are registered, call 919-404-4040 and they will check for you.
WHO CAN ABSENTEE VOTE? Any registered voter!
HOW TO ABSENTEE BY MAIL VOTE : You must complete a “Request an Absentee Ballot Form” if you want an absentee ballot mailed to you. It is critical that you request this form ASAP to make sure you have time to receive it and get your ballot in EARLY to make sure of its arrival!
  • Call the Wake Co. Board of Elections at 919-404-4040 and ask for the “request an absentee ballot form” and they will MAIL or Email the form to you. You simply mail the form back!
  • You can go to the Wake Bd. Of Elections Office and complete the “request an absentee ballot form” at the office.
  • You can download and print a copy of the “request an absentee ballot form” from the Wake Co. Board of Elections website.
  • Once you request a ballot, you can call the board of elections to make sure they received your request. We highly recommend that you CALL 919-404-4040 to make sure your request form was received.

  • Absentee ballots will be mailed to voters after September 4.
  • READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS. One mistake and your vote will be invalidated.
  • RETURN YOUR BALLOT IMMEDIATELY and no later than October 15 so any mistakes found by the Board of Elections can be corrected.
  • Once you submit your absentee ballot, you can track its progress on the Wake Co. Board of Elections website OR you can call 919-404-4040 to make sure.
  • You will need only ONE person to sign your ballot as a witness.
  • You will need to put ONE first-class stamp on your ballot to mail it back to the Board of Elections.
  • You can return your voter request to absentee vote form by mailing, emailing, or faxing to the Wake Co. Board of Elections.
  • You must use the envelope provided by the Wake Co. Board of Elections. Spouses must use each individual return envelope.
  • Absentee ballots must be received/postmarked by Wake Board of Elections on or before November 3, 2020, 5pm.
  • So, PLEASE return your ballot no later than October 20. After 5 days, call 919-404-4040 to verify it has arrived and that there are no problems.
  • If you want to hand-deliver your ballot, you must take it to the Wake Co. Board of Elections (1200 N. New Hope Road) and it must be received by 5pm on or before Election Day. YOU CANNOT take your absentee ballot to a precinct site on Election Day.
SPECIAL NOTES about Returning Your Absentee Ballot:
*You can also hand deliver your absentee ballot to the Board of Elections Office but it must be there by 5pm on Election Day.
*You can take your absentee ballot to Early Voting site, but is NOT recommended. Since you cannot drop the ballot off at curb site voting – you must go inside and have your ballot received and recorded. Advice is to mail the ballot.
